Music of the Future Interviews Cash Crawford

20+ YEARS IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY WITH NOTABLE CREDITS WE GOT A CHANCE TO CHAT WITH ‘CASH CRAWFORD’ WHO YOU MAY KNOW FROM ‘BEYOND THE MOUNTAIN,’ BUT HERE TODAY WITH US TO TELL US ABOUT NEW SINGLE ‘SAVE MYSELF', THE MEANING, TEASES THE VIDEO AND WHAT ELSE 2022 HAS TO OFFER.

What is your name? Cash Crawford

What is your genre of music? Country

Give us a little bio about you? For over 20 years, Cash Crawford has been involved in the music industry as a noteworthy vocalist, songwriter, and entertainer. Growing up in a rural area of Pritchard, Canada, Cash and her sister Sadie would sing every chance they got, even if it was walking down their driveway to the bus, or going to church on Sunday. In 2008, Cash participated in Canadian Idol, making it to the third round just before being televised. After Canadian Idol, Cash went on to travel across Canada performing as one half of the duo ‘Beyond the Mountain’ with Theo Tams. This project won her the Toronto Independent Music Awards for Singer/Songwriter of the Year in 2012. During this time, Cash also worked as a voice actor and wrote solo music. Her original projects have earned her Rising Star, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Song of the Year nominations. Since moving to Nashville, Tennessee in 2016, she continues to hone her skills both on and off the stage. In 2019, Cash released “Stevie”, her single written about her idol Stevie Nicks, with David Tolliver. Most recently, she has been working with producer Don Miggs in Nashville, TN. If you’re looking for powerhouse vocals, Cash is your woman! Despite her ability to emulate the likenesses of softer vocalists such as Patsy Cline, Stevie Nicks, Ellie Goulding, and Taylor Swift, Cash excels at recording strong vocals in the style of Adele, Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson, and Carrie Underwood.

What made you go into music? It’s something I’ve been doing as a child… I never really “went into it,” It’s always been a part of me.

Who are your influences? They really vary all the time… but the consistent ones are Chris Stapleton, Fleetwood Mac, John Mayer, Adele, and H.E.R.

Are you signed? Not yet, but here’s hoping!

What is the meaning behind the ‘Save Myself’? It’s about owning your mistakes and learning to become your own hero.

What was the writing and recording process like? It was emotional, but also super fun. John and Don made the process super easy and safe, so I was really able to let go and release a lot of emotion into the song.

Describe the track in two words. My Soul Anthem (that’s three…)

Who did you work with on the single? Don Miggs and John Luzzi. Two of the best guys in the business.

Will we see a Music video for the single “Save Myself”, what can we expect from the creative process? I will be working on a video in the very near future!! It’ll be released shortly after the single drops.

Will we see an EP or Album and if so, can you give us a teaser of what to expect? I plan on starting with a few singles… then an EP. Expect lots of honesty about my healing journey and all the ups and downs I’ve been through up until this point in my life.

Do you have any live shows or a tour coming up and if so let us know where we can catch you at? I’m playing in Nashville three days a week currently and am hoping to head out on some tours soon!! Keep an eye on my IG!

What else can we expect in 2022? A few more songs and a whole lot more shows!!!

Will we see collaborations and if so, can you tell us more about them? Nothing in the works yet, but I have a few people I’d LOVE to collaborate with in the future.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 years? Headlining some big shows and helping the world heal and love more through the power of music.

What quote or saying do you always stick by? We should always be learning and growing, so we can do better and be better.

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget? My Olbas throat lozenges, my microphone, to stretch and breathe, to remind myself to feel my body and my emotions so that I can perform at my best and that I am human and it’s okay to blow a note here and there.
