A UNIQUE WAY TO SHOW YOU CARE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Songwriting University and the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation Team Up for Cancer Research

Nashville, TN (November 2020) – Nashville powerhouses Songwriting University and the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation are joining forces to create a special kind of hope for Christmas this year. They are working to fund advanced innovative treatments for those fighting cancer. Scott Hamilton, a cancer survivor himself, dreams of a day where there is no more suffering because of cancer. Songwriting University is joining in the fight with the backing of Nashville musicians, as the bond between founders and Scott’s mission runs deep. The two bring Scott’s dream and call to action to life in a new Christmas song, Dear Mr Santa Claus, in a cheer-filled video found on their youtube channel.

Scott, who founded the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation back in 2014, is familiar with the highs and lows of life. At only 26 years old, Hamilton won a gold medal for figure skating in the 1984 Winter Olympics, a feat many in their twenties don’t even dare to dream. Then at 38 Scott’s life took a tragic turn. He had his own encounter with testicular cancer followed by three brain tumors. While this might tear down the average human, Scott took the opportunity to inspire others with his inescapable optimism and create the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation in order to “help those who are down get back up again”. From figure skating to life, Scott knew that a fall couldn’t keep him down. Hamilton shares, “I see a day where everyone survives cancer and no one suffers their way through treatments and cancer does no harm.”

To join this mission of hope, from now until Christmas Eve songwriters can enter the Songwriting University Song contest. Part of every entry fee will benefit the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation, helping to give more Christmases to cancer patients. Scott and SU would like to give a special thank you to Gibson Gives, who has provided some rockin’ prizes for the contest winners.

To enter the song contest visit Songwriting University. To learn more about Scott’s mission go to the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation where you can leave something under their tree to give real hope beyond the holidays.
